Meet the team

Neil Attwood
 Neil Attwood
Neil finds the best part of his job is being on the road and meeting new people. He enjoys the rapport he develops with customers, whether it's with the site managers or the guys on the shop floor. One of Neil's favourite projects was realigning the boom on a massive port crane in Perth, but he enjoys any project that presents challenges in scope, location or technical complexity. Neil is married with two young children and likes BMX riding when he has time.

Bill VoschezangBill Voschezang
Bill has worked at Active since 1996. While he’s responsible for the lineboring team he still enjoys being hands-on with the tools and working on customer sites. He is devoted to whatever he does, and spends a lot of time liaising with customers and ensuring that materials and resources are available to complete projects on time and to a high standard. Bill’s two daughters have left home now, and he spends his leisure time tinkering with anything mechanical, especially European cars.

"Being a small business we do things on a more personal level, and this flows through to our customers."
Keith Fleming photoKeith Fleming

Keith is one of the original founders and directors of Active Engineering. He prefers to work hands-on in the business as a lineboring engineer, where he can see projects through to completion and maintain standards of work that the company can be proud of. Keith is keen on sailing, boating and fishing and also owns muscle cars. He has two grown-up daughters.

IMG 1404Liam Scott

After he finished his apprenticeship at Active Engineering Liam was offered a fulltime job and chose to stay.  He says the work is interesting and the people are good to work with. He also likes the variety of sites that he might get to work on, from diggers to super yachts and power stations. Liam likes going to the gym and is a competitive power lifter who recently won his first competition.

He's been at Active since 2006 and enjoys the satisfaction of doing a good job for the client. Bill has two adult children and a dog, and he enjoys fishing, gardening, going to the gym, and reading about African military history.

Peter MattsonPeter Mattson

Peter has spent almost 40 years working with print, although he doesn’t feel old enough for it to be that long. He likes helping people and this fits well with the nature of his job which involves a lot of trouble-shooting and emergency call-out work. Peter has two adult daughters and likes fishing and boating, as well as taking in a movie or stage show.

Mark Williams photoMark Williams
Mark is Active’s workshop manager and he’s been with the company since 1996, having come here from the marine industry. Mark’s favourite part of the job is dealing with customers and finding creative technical solutions for their engineering problems. Now that his children have grown up Mark has more time to enjoy fishing, the occasional game of tennis and watching almost any kind of sport.

“Our job is to solve our customers’ engineering problems.”
Callum Bines picCallum Bines
Callum has been with Active since 2010 following a similar role with Transfield. While his dream job is to work on a charter boat and spend all day marlin fishing, he likes Active’s good team environment and the variety he gets in his daily work. Callum is married and has a young daughter, and enjoys hunting, fishing and water skiing.

Stephen Neville photoSteven Neville

Steven founded the company in 1992, along with two other directors. He could see a gap in the market for someone to provide quality engineering with better service standards than anywhere else. He believes the company adds real value by being accountable for an entire project, offering a wrap-around solution without relying on subcontractors or external suppliers.  Steven likes working on his lifestyle block and using his earthmoving equipment, and is a big fan of Porsches which reflect his business philosophy of quality and reliable engineering.

“Because of our comprehensive project records and continuity of staff, we can easily replicate a job we did 10 or 20 years ago.”
Michael NevilleMichael Neville

Michael has been around Active Engineering for almost his entire life. He joined Active in 2015 after a successful stint at Datacom as a Problem Manager for the Fulton Hogan team. He enjoys his challenging and diverse role, and his vision for Active is to have the best staff with the best equipment delivering the best possible service for Active’s customers. Michael’s interests are motor racing, cooking, music, and his two cats.
